Why I built Verth

I paid ₹1,500 to a company that didn’t exist.

One day an email told me I’d been selected for an online exam with a well-known company. The website looked exactly like the real one: same logo, same colours, same careers page. To “confirm my exam slot” they asked for ₹1,500. It looked genuine, so I paid.

There was no exam, and there was no job. The company was fake, and so was the website.

I work in cybersecurity, and it still happened to me. That’s why I built Verth: so the next student or job-seeker can check an offer in seconds, before they pay anyone anything.

How verification works

    On WhatsApp, a call, email or video, claiming to be from your boss, colleague or family member.

    You tap Verify

    Pick who it claims to be from. Verth asks them on their own registered phone, not the number that contacted you.

Good to know

Does Verth read my WhatsApp, SMS, calls or email?

No. Verth never connects to your messages. You paste or upload what you want checked, and the check runs on your own device.

Can Scam check be wrong?

Yes. It explains the red flags it can see, but no tool catches every scam, and “no red flags” doesn’t prove something is safe. If a message asks for money, codes or personal details, check with the real person or company first.

Can Verth tell me if a job offer is real?

It checks the warning signs: whether the email really came from the company’s own domain, look-alike websites, requests for money, WhatsApp interviews and requests for documents. Always confirm the job on the company’s official Careers page too.

Is my screenshot uploaded anywhere?

No. Verth reads the picture on your phone and never uploads it.

Does the other person need Verth too?

For verification checks, yes: they go only to people in your circle, on the phone where they’re signed in. Scam check works on its own.

Is my data safe?

Answers are signed by a key that never leaves the person’s phone, new members need admin approval, and the log can’t be edited or deleted. Read the full security notes.

I’ve already lost money. What now?

Call 1930 (National Cyber Crime Helpline) or report at cybercrime.gov.in straight away, and tell your bank. The faster you report, the better the chance of stopping the money.
